I Need Marvel To Bring Back These 10 Important MCU Characters The Franchise Introduced And Did Nothing With

The Marvel Cinematic Universe thrives on continuity, but has become infamous for setting up the existence of characters only to do nothing with them for years. What makes the movies of the Marvel Cinematic Universe work so well is how they meld into one another, with characters showing up in multiple different series and early plot developments being set up only to pay off years later. But the franchise doesn"t always do a great job ensuring each new character has a plan to come back.
This is especially egregious when the characters in question are relatively important, whether due to their comic significance or the MCU"s own insistence. The recent reveal of the cast of Avengers: Doomsday has at least promised that some major heroes who haven"t been heard from in a while, like Shang-Chi, are indeed poised to return in the near future. But the MCU is still a graveyard of significant names who have continued to languish in obscurity thanks to the franchise"s disuse.
10 Starfox Eternals The finales of the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies are a big contributor to the introduction of characters that are never heard from again. It"s quite easy for films to get caught up in promoting their own direct sequels, only to realize that the franchise as a whole won"t be getting back to their particular stories for years at a time. In some cases, they might not get back to them at all.
Enter Starfox"s introduction in the final moments of Eternals. Starfox is another Eternal originally stationed on Titan who became Thanos" adopted brother in the planet"s royal family for a time, only to later disavow Arishem"s control and flee into space as an outlaw alongside his companion, Pip the Troll. Played by boy band icon Harry Styles, Starfox is a relatively important character to the cosmic mythos of the Marvel Universe who has been sadly discarded alongside the rest of the Eternals, who may have been abandoned by the MCU entirely.
9 Skaar She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Many characters surrounding The Incredible Hulk have often fallen victim to MCU forgetfulness over the years thanks to the disputed live-action movie distribution rights to The Hulk. She-Hulk: Attorney at Law was the closest thing The Hulk has gotten to solo project since his initial debut film in 2008, giving an opportunity to introduce even more specific characters to his mythos. The series took it towards the very end, with Hulk introducing his half-alien son, Skaar.
Born on the planet Sakaar, Skaar was originally a major part of the Planet Hulk and World War Hulk comic storylines only vaguely alluded to in Hulk"s Thor: Ragnarok appearance. Skaar is a major part of Hulk"s backstory in these crossovers, but he doesn"t even have a single line in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. At the very least, the MCU could include Skaar in the rumored Young Avengers team to be formed later down the line.
8 Leonard Samson The Incredible Hulk Because of Hulk"s issues with getting a solo movie, plenty of characters from The Incredible Hulk teased to have greater significance in the franchise were left treading water. Amazingly, both The Leader and Betty Ross were brought back by Captain America: Brave New World, coming back to the events of The Incredible Hulk after nearly two decades. But one intriguing character from the film yet to get more representation is one Dr. Leonard Samson.
Dr. Leonard Samson is a therapist and Betty Ross" rebound relationship after Bruce Banner"s disappearance, holding jealousy of Betty"s love for Bruce. Samson is played excellently by Ty Burrell of Modern Family fame, showing off an uncharacteristically villainous performance, as Samson does indeed get his own dose of gamma radiation to become the green-haired supervillain Doc Samson in the comics. Hopefully, the MCU can bring him back after so long thanks to the precedence set by Captain America: Brave New World.
7 Black Knight Eternals Yet another character promised by the film Eternals only to be forgotten, Dane Whitman"s evolution into a hero of his own may remain an unfulfilled promise forever. Played by Game of Thrones star Kit Harrington, Dane is introduced as a historian who learns of the Eternals" immortal effect on human history, falling into a romantic relationship with Sersi. But the film"s post-credits scene promises a future for Dane that"s perhaps more substantial.
Post-credits scenes are another huge stage in which new characters in the MCU can be teased only to never be followed up on again. Eternals not only teases Dane becoming the hero Black Knight thanks to his family"s connection to the mystical Ebony Blade, but it also teases the appearance of Mahershala Ali"s Blade when Dane hears his voice. The production woes of Blade notwithstanding, Dane Whitman at least deserves to return as a proper sword-wielding superhero and make use of Kit Harrington"s talents.
6 Madame B Avengers: Age of Ultron While it"s possible to hold out hope for some characters returning at a certain point in the future, others seem to have already passed their expiration date for relevancy in the MCU. A perfect example is the mysterious Madame B, introduced in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Madame B was the insidious trainer of female assassins in General Dreykov"s Black Widow program, personally responsible for grooming Natasha Romanoff into becoming the most dangerous woman in the world.
If there was a time for Madame B to return, it would have been in the Black Widow solo movie, which saw Natasha connect with her old spy comrades and take down General Dreykov once and for all. Puzzlingly, Madame B was nowhere to be found, and her whereabouts or even mortal status are still unknown. Perhaps Madame B could come back to haunt Yelena Belova at some point in the future - Her "B" could even stand for Belova.
5 Dr. Helen Cho Avengers: Age of Ultron Avengers: Age of Ultron certainly seemed to have a knack for introducing important female characters who would go on to never show up again. Dr. Helen Cho is a genius scientist recruited by S.H.I.E.L.D., and later Ultron, who forced her to help him build a powerful new robot body. Dr. Cho has a surprising level of screentime in the film for a character that has never been heard from since.
Not only do Dr. Cho"s scientific accomplishments make her a significant character, but she"s also the mother of one of the greatest Marvel heroes the MCU has yet to introduce. Amadeus Cho is a prodigy-level genius who eventually becomes a hero, using his vast intellect as a superpower. He gets flashier Hulk-like powers later on to become the hero Brawn. Though he"s appeared in animated form in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Amadeus needs to come to live-action by way of his mother.
4 W'Kabi Black Panther The Marvel Cinematic Universe is jam-packed with high-profile actors, and occasionally, it seems clear when they"ve hit the limit on their star power budget judging by which characters come back. One of the most obvious examples of this is Daniel Kaluuya"s W"Kabi in Black Panther. One of Wakanda"s tribal leaders, W"Kabi is notable for siding with Killmonger first, betraying his king by succumbing to his fears that the outside world will corner Wakanda if they don"t strike first.
W"Kabi is an interesting presence in Black Panther, lending his voice to Killmonger"s valid criticisms of the nation. However, he doesn"t appear along with the rest of the Wakandan warriors in the Battle for Earth in Avengers: Endgame, and is only ever mentioned briefly in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. W"Kabi gains more power with a cybernetic arm in the comics, and this could be a great way to bring him back as a villain or anti-hero in the next Black Panther movie.
3 Hercules Thor: Love and Thunder Thor: Love and Thunder expanded the mythos of the Marvel Cinematic Universe cosmology with the introduction of Mount Olympus, hosting entire pantheons of other gods to come together to discuss their affairs. Representing Greek mythology is Russel Crowe"s Zeus, a fellow thunder god whose weapon Thor appropriates for his own quest to defeat Gorr the God-Butcher. Once again, a post-credits scene teases a character unlikely to show up anytime soon by showing Zues task his son Hercules with getting revenge.
Hercules is indeed a recurring hero in the Marvel Comics, fulfilling a similar role as he does in Greek mythology. Though he"s more of a hero in the source material, it seemed as if Thor: Ragnarok was poising him for a climactic battle with Thor. This would be a great way to win back some good will for the character after the critical negativity the rest of the film rightfully swam in.
2 Scorpion Spider-Man: Homecoming One of the most infamous lingering plot threads the MCU never followed up on, Scorpion"s appearance in the post-credits scene of Spider-Man: Homecoming represents a painful missed opportunity. When Adrian Toomes goes to prison after being busted as The Vulture by Spider-Man, he"s confronted by one Mac Gargan, a criminal apparently put away by the web-head before, demanding to know his secret identity. In the comics, Mac Gargan becomes the arachnid villain The Scorpion.
Scorpion does appear in Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man, but has yet to make landfall in the live-action MCU after two more solo Spider-Man films. This is a shame considering how great of a casting Michael Mando of Better Call Saul fame is for the character. Sadly, it seems as though Scorpion isn"t on the horizon going by what is known about Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
1 Aaron Davis Spider-Man: Homecoming Scorpion isn"t the only villain Spider-Man: Homecoming teases with its cast. Enter one Aaron Davis, a petty criminal Spider-Man interrogates over the course of his investigation into The Vulture. Played by the talented Donald Glover, a.k.a. the artist Childish Gambino, Aaron Davis is the real identity of the Marvel comics villain known as The Prowler, who has a major role in the animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Glover does briefly return in the sequel to that film, making a live-action cameo complete with a Prowler suit in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. However, he nor his nephew, Miles Morales, are heard from again at any point in Peter Parker"s journey through the MCU. Considering how alone Peter is after Doctor Strange"s spell wiped out everyone"s memory of him, it"d be great to introduce a live-action Miles into the MCU by way of Aaron Davis.
